Yes, it is official. Universal and Twentieth Century Fox have purchased the rights from Microsoft to make a film based on Halo and Halo 2.

A spokesman for Universal has said that the studios are aiming at 2007 for a Halo the Movie release date. Microsoft will be paid 5 million dollars and a percentage of ticket sales. Apparently the promoters who visited Hollywood dressed up in Halo costumes last spring impressed someone enough to take a chance on the film. If done well, I believe the movie will be successful. Science fiction fans should be attracted on top of the millions of loyal diehards who will come to watch.
